Onboarding

Introduction

The onboarding flow of the uApp is designed to provide users with a secure, compliant and seamless entry into the Urano ecosystem. It combines automated verification, Web3 wallet authentication and usability-focused design to ensure that only eligible users can access tokenized opportunities while maintaining a smooth and intuitive experience.

Security & Compliance Measures

Urano’s onboarding workflow is built on audited, enterprise-grade providers to ensure full security and regulatory alignment across all jurisdictions in which the platform operates.

All identity verification steps are handled exclusively by Persona, which processes documents and biometric information in full compliance with:

GDPR – Regulation (EU) 2016/679, including Articles 5 (lawfulness and data minimization), 6 (legal bases for processing), and 32 (security of processing).

MiCA – Regulation (EU) 2023/1114, with specific reference to the obligations imposed on Crypto-Asset Service Providers regarding user identification, record-keeping, and operational integrity.

EU Anti-Money Laundering & Counter-Terrorist Financing Framework, including Directive (EU) 2015/849 and its amendments, covering KYC/KYB requirements, risk-based due diligence, and PEP/AML screening.

Urano does not store or locally process sensitive user data. All identity documents, biometric information and verification results are handled exclusively within Persona’s secure infrastructure, which acts as a GDPR-compliant data processor. Urano only receives the minimum verification outcome necessary (such as verification status, user identifier and timestamp), in line with GDPR minimization principles and MiCA-aligned operational standards.

For more information on how personal data is processed during verification, users may refer to the Urano Privacy Policy and the official documentation of Persona, our verification provider.

Eligibility Requirements

Access to the Urano Ecosystem is subject to regulatory eligibility and successful completion of the verification process. Users must be at least 18 years old and provide accurate information during onboarding.

Due to international regulatory requirements, Urano restricts access to users in certain jurisdictions, including, but not limited to, the United States, the United Kingdom and countries subject to sanctions or classified as high-risk under AML/CFT frameworks. These restrictions apply to all ecosystem modules, including tokenized opportunities, staking functions, governance participation and presale offerings.

Onboarding approval confirms identity verification but does not guarantee access to all products; availability varies depending on the user’s jurisdiction, regulatory classification and the legal framework applicable to each product. For a complete overview of eligibility rules, restricted jurisdictions, and user obligations, please refer to Urano’s Terms & Conditions.

Wallet Requirements & User Control

Users retain complete control over their Web3 wallets throughout the onboarding process. Urano never requests private keys, seed phrases, or any credential granting wallet access. Supported wallets must meet Thirdweb’s compatibility and security requirements to ensure a smooth and reliable connection flow.

UX Considerations

The onboarding flow was optimized through iterative testing to balance regulatory requirements with a seamless user experience. Each step, from email confirmation to wallet connection and identity verification, was structured to minimize friction while maintaining operational integrity and compliance.

User verification onboarding funnel The onboarding flow of the uApp is designed as a streamlined, fully automated process that ensures secure user registration, identity verification and wallet linkage, while maintaining full compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.

The funnel integrates two core technologies:

  • Thirdweb, for seamless and secure wallet connection,

  • Persona, for KYC/KYB and identity verification, including automated screening under AML/PEP procedures.

The onboarding sequence is structured to minimize friction and maximize clarity at each step. Users progress through:

1. Entry & Account Creation

Users access the landing page and initiate registration by providing an email address, which is verified through a confirmation link (2FA).

2. Wallet Connection

After creating the account, users connect their Web3 wallet through Thirdweb, which ensures compatibility, secure authentication and a smooth UX flow across supported browser wallets.

3. Identity Verification

Persona manages the complete verification workflow, which includes email confirmation (2FA), wallet address matching, country selection and eligibility checks, document upload, selfie + liveness verification and automated AML/PEP screening. This process ensures that only eligible users can access tokenized opportunities within the Urano ecosystem.

4. Screening Outcome & Compliance Review

Persona returns the verification result:

  • Passed: the user is automatically advanced to the final registration stage.

  • Flagged: the user enters a manual review flow for compliance evaluation, during which access remains temporarily restricted.

5. Registration Completion

Once cleared, the user receives confirmation and gains access to the full suite of Urano ecosystem modules.
